Following the Turing Award, known as the “Nobel Prize of computing, The International Society of Data Scientists Recognizes the trio for the Innovator Award of 2019, and the Honored Senior Fellow AI Scientist Ranks of the Society.

The recognition is to recognize the contribution of the trio, Yoshua Bengio, Geoffrey Hinton, and Yann LeCun. The techniques they developed in the 1990s and 2000s enabled huge breakthroughs in tasks like computer vision and speech recognition. Their work underpins the current proliferation of AI technologies, from self-driving cars to automated medical diagnoses. The three researchers are among the first who receive the Honored Senior Fellow AI Scientist Ranks of the Society.
